Do you have a post about sediment or science communication that you would like to share? I would be happy to work with you on a guest post! Message me on twitter @RobinMcLachlan or email me at email@example.com to get the ball rolling.
I proudly serve on the Board of Directors for ENGAGE – a seminar and speaker series for graduate students in the sciences that focuses on effective techniques for sharing scientific research with non-specialists. Beyond the classroom, we present a speaker series at Town Hall every year and offer workshops to other organizations interested in science communication. After taking the course myself (you can watch my talk here), I was quickly enamored with the scientific communication world and became the course instructor in 2016. I now serve as the advisory instructor and vice-manager. To learn more about ENGAGE, get access to our curriculum, and watch videos of our past speaker series, visit www.engage-science.com.
I am also excited to be an editor of OpenScienceDB, a grassroots and mission driven database led by students in science and engineering. We aim to make research, especially those funded by your tax dollars, more accessible to a general audience by providing summaries of peer-reviewed scientific publications that are intriguing and easy to understand. If you want to browse the site, visit www.opensciencedb.com. If you’re a graduate student or postdoc and want to contribute a summary, you can sign up here.
